As if Satoru Iwata’s pronouncement of a 2010 release date for — let’s call it — “New Legend of Zelda” wasn’t exciting enough, Nintendo of America’s Cammie Dunaway referenced a similar timeline for the upcoming Wii game at the Nintendo Media Summit this week. Speaking to GameLife, Dunaway said, “If you compare the first half of 2010 with the first half of 2009, it’s night and day. And from some of the things that Mr. Iwata has talked about, and things that we will talk about at E3, like Zelda, you know that we’re going to have a good back half of the year, as well.” So then, Zelda in the back half of 2010? Yes, please.
In regards to North American releases of RPGs Xenoblade and The Last Story, Dunaway somewhat baffling said, “It’s too early to say whether we’re going to bring those here” — even though Nintendo of America already announced Xenoblade back at E3 2009 when it was called Monado: Beginning of the World. It’s possible Dunaway simply misspoke, or she just forgot about Monado — like everyone else in the world.
Dunaway hints at new Zelda in 2010, unsure about Xenoblade and The Last Story originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 26 Feb 2010 13:00:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Next week’s Rock Band DLC is quite … eclectic? Yeah, let’s go with that. With such variety, there’s sure to be something that people will love — or love to hate, which is typically the case. There’s a track pack from chart-topping band Disturbed, with three songs off its 10th anniversary edition of The Sickness album. Meanwhile, Grammy-nominated band Silversun Pickups also contribute a couple more tracks to the DLC pile.

If you’ve yet to play one of those rhythm games that exclusively features the work of a single band, but you’re dying to temper your expectations for Green Day: Rock Band, you should probably consider picking up the similarly-titled Harmonix opus that focuses on the career of the Beatles. In fact, you should do it right now — Amazon’s offering Beatles: Rock Band for $28.49 on all three major platforms as its Deal of the Day. As an added bonus, the retailer is also selling the Premium Edition bundle, which includes all those sexy instruments, for just $139 (down from MSRP $200).
We recognize that The Beatles are no Green Day, but you should be able to emulate playing the upcoming Billie Jo Armstrong simulator by muting your television while playing Beatles, and just crankin’ up the Dookie.

Even without the PlayStation Motion Controller to back it up, Resident Evil 5 has struck gold for a second time. The PS3 version of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition (Alternative Edition in Japan) hit the top of the Media Create sales chart in Japan following its February 18 release, selling 143,339 copies. God Eater continues to gobble up attention, taking the #2 spot with 64,192 units sold (while passing 500k units sold to date).
Another big PS3 game also debuted in the top ten this week: Heavy Rain, which fell in at #6, selling 26,775 copies. In a way, the Japanese version is the superior release, because the voice acting doesn’t seem to have been performed by French people faking Japanese accents. See the full top ten after the break.
